The International Automotive Congress – ASEAN is an outstanding event for automotive experts and professionals all over the world. This year's event will be held in the German city of Wolfsburg on 13th October and will kick off the International Suppliers Fair (IZB), which will take place from 14th to 16th October 2014.

The main focus of the congress is the future-oriented economic zone of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). High-ranking speakers from the worlds of business and technology will provide detailed insights into the current ASEAN automotive market. The congress will begin with a strategic positioning session providing participants with a comprehensive overview of the automotive value chain in the ASEAN states. The speakers at the session will not only highlight the importance of the need for action in this value chain, but also spark potential ideas and incentives.

The congress will also explore the activities carried out by and challenges facing Volkswagen AG in the ASEAN states, as well as exploring the company’s technological solutions for the future, methods used to secure competitive advantages and jobs and its bilateral partnerships with local suppliers. Representatives from leading supplier companies from the ASEAN states and Germany and from Volkswagen will share their own experiences of the opportunities and risks involved in mutual partnerships. On top of all this, the congress will also provide an insight into the upcoming structural change in the southeast Asian automotive industry.

High-Ranking Speakers and Representatives

The speakers at the congress will include, for example, the Vice-President of Sales & Marketing in the Volkswagen Group China, Weiming Soh, the Group Managing Director of DRB-Hicom in Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato‘ Sri Haji Mohd Khamil bin Jamil, and the Senior Vice-President of Group Manufacturing Overseas at Volkswagen AG, Thomas Schäfer. Alongside other representatives from Volkswagen and DRB-Hicom, a number of representatives from the WSA-Group Malaysia, AAPICO PLC. Thailand and the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce have also confirmed that they will be attending the event.

The International Automotive Congress – ASEAN is above all aimed at the board members, top executives, specialists and managers of German and international OEMs and suppliers that are already actively involved in the ASEAN automotive market or intend to become part of it in the future. The congress will also be joined by an accompanying trade exhibition featuring partners and sponsors. This exhibition will provide participants with an exclusive platform on which they can exchange information and opinions and make the most of networking opportunities.
