Manufacturing expo attracts 3,000 foreign, local participants

Over 3000 international and local equipment manufacturers from Germany, Turkey, Indonesia, Italy and China including member-companies from multinationals, large, Small and Medium Industries, SMIs, have confirmed participation for the 2018 edition of the Nigeria Manufacturing Equipment, NME, Expo.

The expo is scheduled to hold on this week in Lagos with the theme: “Enhancing Nigeria’s Manufacturing Competitiveness in the Global Space” and co-hosted by the Nigeria Manufacturing Association of Nigeria, MAN, and Clarion Event West Africa, CEWA, Limited.

Speaking at a media briefing, President of MAN, Dr. Frank Jacobs, said that the expo which features manufacturing Partnership for African Development, mPAD, is a three-day International Exhibition and Conference which is one of the association’s responses to government’s commitment towards industrialization and its quest to diversify the economy.

mPAD provides a veritable platform for SMEs to learn hands-on processes on how to boost their output, reduce cost, drive quality improvement, manufacture for new market and secure funding for growth.

Jacobs stated: “There will be on display at the expo, latest manufacturing equipment, machine tools, technologies, spare parts and raw materials. This year’s edition would be co-located with the Nigeria Raw Materials, NIRAM, expo which is an International Raw Material and Ingredients Trade Fair.

“The infusion of the NIRAM expo into the NME expo would afford several companies and countries which have registered as exhibitors and visitors, a rare opportunity of exposure to the entire manufacturing value chain, which will include machinery, equipment, financial support, professional consultancy and raw materials.”

However, the 3rd Annual mPAD and the NME is an international B-2-B exhibition and conference that brings together local manufacturers with international suppliers and their local distributors to help the Nigerian manufacturing industry re-tool and modernize.

On the other hand, Director General, Raw Materials Research and Development Council, RMRDC, Dr. Hussaini Ibrahim, said that the primary objective of NIRAM Expo is to create a platform where stakeholders in the raw materials value chain could come together to synergize, showcase and trade in available resources and raw materials with the users of same, which is mainly the manufacturing sector.

Ibrahim who was represented by Director, Investment and Consultancy, RMRDC, Dr. Zainab Hammanga, stated: “Indeed, the NIRAM Expo 2018 promises to be the biggest and best going by increasing interests by the state governments to participate through showcasing the available raw materials within their respective states as well as the enthusiasm by the organised private sector producing secondary raw materials.”
